Boit, Keflezighi, Landry named USATF Champions12/18/2014
INDIANAPOLIS -- Three U.S. athletes have been named USATF champions after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced a four-year doping sanction on Mo Trafeh. Due to the ruling, Trafeh is disqualified from all competitive results obtained on and subsequent to January 1, 2012, including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes.
With the sanction in place, Josphat Boit, Meb Keflezighi and Christo Landry have all been named winners in U.S. championships which occurred since the start of Trafeh’s disqualification. Boit is the new 2013 USATF 25k champion (1:14:34), Keflezighi is the 2013 USATF Half Marathon victor (1:01:22) which gives him two straight victories at the event, and Landry adds another national title to his growing list with the 2012 USATF 15K Championship (44:37).
At USATF’s Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California, the men’s long distance running committee voted to recognize Landry as the sole American 25K record holder. Landry’s winning time of 1:14:18 at the 2014 USATF 25K Championships earned him one of three USARC race titles in 2014.
